Amar Jain is our Student of the Month for November 2009. Amar is a student of the Diploma in Cyber Law course conducted by Asian School of Cyber Laws. “To achieve success by attaining my professional and personal goals through intelligent hard work” – Amar’s motto.

What makes this emotion special is the fact that Amar is completely blind. Amar’s whole life is an achievement to his credit. Amar is studying Law at a prestigious law college. He has several law certifications including in Human Rights and Intellectual Property Rights. In an effort to make himself technically proficient, this self-confessed talkative youngster took up and successfully completed numerous courses from the Hadley School for the Blind, USA.

When Amar came to know about a University Grants Commission decree that said that blind students should be afforded the opportunity to appear for their exams online by Universities in India, it became a mission in his life. He approached the University of Mumbai appealing that he would not use a writer (like other blind students) to write his exams but would like to utilize his proficiency at computers and take the exam online. To his disappointment, he found himself facing several dead ends and red tape. Instead of losing courage, this young man soldiered on and finally won the battle. In doing so, he has cleared the way for numerous other blind students.

To top it all, he is a fine singer who has won several awards in the field.

Some of his favourites include:

Food: Traditional Indian food

Movies: Comedies or romantic movies like Munna Bhai MBBS, Jab We Met.

Music: Old music, ghazals, soft music, instrumental music etc.

Smell: The natural smell of rose

Color: Blue

Hobbies: Surfing the Net and playing with different softwares of computer, singing, interacting with as many people as I can, talking on the phone, reading books which contain positive thoughts or self-help books, playing various musical instruments.
